Glow sticks are safe when used according to the instructions on the packaging. Problems can arise if a glow stick breaks while being squeezed and the liquid gets into the eyes, potentially causing serious eye irritation.
Young children may put a glow stick in their mouth and bite it open. The liquid may cause mild irritation of the oral mucosa. If the liquid comes into contact with the skin, mouth, or eyes, rinse immediately and thoroughly with water.
